Statement from Cheshire Police – 11th February 2016

Please see below, a statement from Cheshire Police with regards to happenings in Crewe last week:-

In the wake of last week’s issues in Crewe, we would like to remind parents, young people and the wider community that police will not tolerate any violent, threatening or intimidating behaviour that causes harm to any individual or group in our community.

We will act promptly on any reports of this nature that we receive, regardless of who it comes from, and encourage anyone who has been a victim of a crime to contact Police through 101, or in an emergency through 999.

Where criminal acts have taken place, we can reassure the community that swift and firm action has been taken against those involved, and we continue to investigate allegations that we have been made aware of.

In recent days there has been some national media coverage of this issue, which simply does not reflect the reality of the situation in Crewe.

We continue to work closely with the local authority and the school to tackle any issues that have arisen over the past week.

We are determined to ensure that Crewe remains a safe and enjoyable place to live, work and visit and we thank the community and our partners for their support in this.
