Nominations are opened to honour the people of Crewe

Nominations to recognise the people of Crewe who have gone ‘above and beyond’ are now open.

Crewe Town Council’s glamorous Civic Awards are returning to the town for their annual celebratory event set to take place in January 2020.

The evening will congratulate individuals, groups and organisations who have made an outstanding contribution to Crewe and gone ‘above and beyond’ what would ordinarily be expected of them.

The Mayor of Crewe, Councillor Benn Minshall, is inviting residents and people working in Crewe to nominate people and organisations who they would like to be considered for an award.

Crewe Civic Awards have recognised people in Crewe for a variety of contributions in previous years.  Crewe Clean Team were recognised for their contributions to Animals and The Environment and Wildlife in 2018 and Cheshire Academy for Integrated Sports and Arts won the Youth Award earlier this year.

Blitz Fireworks won the Business Award in 2018.  Owner John Malam said: “To win the award felt amazing, we were nominated by The Glasheen Academy so for it to come from another business leader in the community was special.”

Mayor Crewe Town Council, Councillor Benn Minshall, said: “This event has become a landmark event in the Crewe community.  It gives an opportunity each year to congratulate those members of the community who contribute to making this the special place that it is.”

Nominations for the award should be submitted in writing via email or post no later than Saturday 30th November and should be no longer than 200 words.

Nominations can be submitted in the following ways:-
