The Crosville Club bloomed on Thursday evening when the Crewe Town Allotment Federation hosted its annual Prize Presentation Evening.
The evening was held to present winners from the Annual Allotment Competition and the Best in Show prizes from the Crewe Town Horticultural Show.
Guests were treated to an enthralling presentation of photographs from not only the Allotment Judging Day in July but also their first Horticultural Show which has held at Queens Park in August.
Both Councillor Dennis Straine-Francis, Mayor of Crewe, and Councillor Simon Yates, Leader of Crewe Town Council, where both on hand to present lucky winners with their prizes.
Councillor Simon Yates said ‘We are so proud of what the Allotment Federation has achieved and the fantastic work that they do. Each site we visited whilst judging the Allotment Competition was truly remarkable and shows what can be done when the community comes together. The Horticultural Show was a great success and for a first Show, really rivalled those that are well established. Well done to all those involved and we look forward to continuing to support you grow from strength to strength.’
Councillor Dennis Straine-Francis said ‘The standard of all the produce exhibited at the Horticultural Show was amazing and the Allotments themselves were just as good. Keep up the good work and we look forward to seeing more competitions and events from you.’
Allotment Competition Prizes were awarded to 18 Allotment Holders across the Henry Street, Brookhouse, Alton Street, Hungerford Road, Claughton Avenue and Manor Way sites. Best in Show Prizes from the Crewe Town Horticultural Show were awarded to John Bebbington, Jodie Peake, Derek Amson, Natalie Dawson, Mrs C Holt, Jim Weedall, Alison Dawson and Mary McDonald.
