Town Council welcomes Cheshire East Free Parking initiative in the Town Centre

Cllr Simon Yates, Leader of Crewe Town Council warmly welcomed the proposals from Cheshire East to introduce free parking in the town centre on council owned car parks each Saturday from noon. ‘This is good news for the town and something that the public and businesses have been asking for repeatedly. This is a pilot and with luck, if successful, it will be extended. This is part of a raft of measures to try to improve the retail offer in Crewe and to market Crewe as a Destination. This will of course take time and certain trends have to be reversed. I’m confident that the future for the town centre is bright and the recent announcement of £10m of extra funding can only help rejuvenate the town at a faster rate.

‘I hope that businesses will give us some feedback on this in order that the initiative can be evaluated. If any businesses wishes to nominate someone to be more involved with the town centre working group then it would be tremendous to have their input and insight, if so contact the Town Clerk for further information’.
