Over the weekend of the late May Bank Holiday while the Crewe Steampunk Convivial is once again making Crewe a tourist destination there will again be a free to enter Steampunk Market at the Lifestyle Centre.
This will feature many of the traders who were in Crewe last year, such as Darren and Sarah Harris from Amy’s Steampunk Emporium, and the fabulous Laurian Gray’s Wardrobe, but we are also pleased that we have attracted some fantastic “new faces” for the market this year.
Amongst them are Neil and Sam Marshall of “Unique Metalworks” who recycle parts of old motorcycles into lamps and gadgets – has to be seen to be believed! We also welcome specialist photographer Tim Croton of Wallhangers Heritage Prints & Photographs – Tim’s photographs of Steam Trains will be of great interest in Crewe, and I suspect he’ll be finding time to visit the Heritage Centre and take some more. Quite different photographs can be had at Mike and Niki Harrison’s mobile Studio, where the very latest in digital technology and a “green screen” means that your portrait can have a myriad of different backgrounds and treatments – and they even have a “dressing up” box should you wish to avail yourself!
Anyone wanting to acquire or to add to their steampunk outfit is going to be spoilt for choice. Not only will Laurian Gray’s Wardrobe be on hand, but so will Elvin Dream, and All Woman Dot Global, Steamwares for Gents, plus Gail Young’s Ornamentology for wonderfully decorated hats and pith helmets. Accessories and Jewellery will be greatly in evidence, everything from cufflinks and tie-pins to brooches, necklaces, rings, wrist and pocket watches (and sun-dials!) right through to such things as teacup and saucer “holsters” and an assortment of (fake) weaponry for the adventurous explorer or airship pirate.
We are still accepting bookings for the last few spaces in the market, and will publish a complete list of traders on the Steampunk Facebook page. Nearer the date of the Crewe Steampunk Convivial.
