The latest recipients of grants from the Crewe Town Council Community Grant Scheme have been announced!
The Council allocates funding and grants up to £2,500 to community organisations for projects and activities that directly benefit the community within the Crewe Town Boundary.
From the latest round of applications, two community organisations have been awarded grants to support their work within the Crewe community:
Central Cheshire Buddy Scheme (awarded £1,260)
The project: specialist ‘Swim Buddy’ support for young people with disabilities aged between 18-25 years.
Project aims: The project will support 10 disabled young people aged 18-25 years to be involved in Aqua Fit and swimming sessions during the week at Crewe Lifestyle centre. The aim of the project is to reduce social isolation, to provide the young people with a shared activity, to increase physical activity levels and improve mental health and wellbeing.
Hope Café drop in (awarded £2,500)
The project: to support Asylum Seekers & Refugees in Crewe.
Project aims: Hope Church Crewe already provides a number of support activities:
- free food collection
- English conversation
- help with phone calls, filling in forms etc.
- a social space
- football sessions every Monday evening
- provision of bikes for transport
This grant will help to fund this work and will be used towards food, clothing and equipment.
The Crewe Town Council Community Grant Scheme is open for applications throughout the year, with quarterly submission deadlines for applications to be considered by the Community Plan committee.
The next deadline for applications is Sunday 20th February 2022 at midnight.
