Loads To Do in Crewe!
Over the late May Bank Holiday weekend there’s a whole raft of amazing free entertainment happening in Crewe’s Town Centre, centred on Memorial Square, Christchurch, and The Lifestyle Centre, when the Crewe Steampunk Convivial returns.
There’s a Steampunk Market in the Lifestyle Centre, featuring specialist traders and crafts-people who can supply your every steampunk requirement, from costumes, accessories, jewellery, homewares, top hats, goggles, canes, artwork, specialist drinks such as Green Tea Gin, and even tickets for the evening events at the Crosville Club.
The Time Travelling Tea Tent will again be demonstrating how to drink tea, and aficionados and new-comers alike can indulge in Hamster Racing. Nearby a traditional Victorian blacksmith will be working at his forge, and historical interpreters from A Moment In Time re-enactment society will be on hand to share their expertise, or you could perhaps “Have A Go” and try and shoot a dangerous robotic vampire with a crossbow.
Ichabod Steam and his amazing Animatronic Backing Band will be performing the steampunk musical “The Arc Of The Spark” – a bittersweet tale of lost love, of spare-part surgery, redemption, and resurrection. Frankenstein meets Love Story in a gin-soaked blues bar in some part of Chicago that time forgot.
Greg Chapman will be on hand to entertain – Juggler, Magician, Unicyclist, Comedian, and Escapologist, you just don’t know what he is going to do next!
The Palace of Curiosities return to the Crown Hotel PH with their Victorian Freak Show – this might be your only chance to see a Mermaid!
Many of the acts who will be on the bill for the evening shows will be adding to the frolics throughout the days, it seems you can’t stop some people from performing if there’s an audience….
And, unless there’s mechanical failure, we should have three Traction Engines this year!
