Poppy Making has begun in Crewe

Issued on behalf of Crewe and Nantwich Senior Forum

Today we set a target of making 2500 poppies for the Poppy Explosion community art project that hopefully all you knitters, crafters and crochet enthusiasts who are out there will want to join in. Our vision is ambitious and one that we think worth doing in the name of commemorating WW1.  This is really the official start of our campaign that sets out to produce a vivid and wonderful town centre display – made by the people of Crewe, that will not only serve to mark the remembrance but that will lift spirits and make people smile when they see it on the municipal square. We have 466 made all ready but we need your help to make it happen…..in the next update we will confirm dates and venues of workshops across the town where you can join us to see how the poppies can be made and allow you to collect your free wool to take home. We would like to take this opportunity to make a special invite to all those in nursing homes private and/or supportive living, church and friendship groups, to pick up your needles and you too can play your part in this project, we know there are some great knitters out there amongst you and this is a great reason for you to pick the needles up in the comfort of your own home. See a few of the photos taken today Friday 20th March of some of Crewe and Nantwich Senior Forum members who are leading the project forward, and tune in soon.  OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
