A Network Rail representative has provided the following update on the bridge works in town:
‘The refurbishment work to the bridge is progressing on time and our contractors are making preparations for the main thrust of the works, which will be over the weekend of 13- 14 February when a full road closure will be in operation and a 500t mobile crane will be used to lift in new precast concrete units.
We will also be working the next two Saturday nights to remove some of the brickwork on the bridge and carry out diversion work to the existing overhead line equipment on the track’
