Friday 3rd April 2015 will see a current Mayor delve into the far flung past of her predecessors.
Councillor Pam Minshall, Mayor of Crewe, will be providing a fascinating insight into some of Crewe’s Past Mayors.
With the aid of a selection of the Town’s treasures, Councillor Minshall, the 137th Mayor of Crewe, will be sharing historical tales dating all the way back to 1877 when James Atkinson, the Towns first Mayor, was appointed.
Councillor Minshall said ‘I have always had a huge interest in history and what better place to look, than in your own home town. I often get asked about the history of the chain and the role of the Mayor in the Town and I have spent most of my civic year sharing these stories whilst visiting local schools. So to round off my Mayoral Year, I thought it about time these were shared with a wider audience.’
The talk will take place on Good Friday at the Cheshire Academy of Integrated Arts and Sports on Broad Street, Crewe. Doors open at 7pm and the presentation will begin at 7.30pm.
Tickets can be purchased from Crewe Town Council at the St Paul’s Community Centre, Hightown, between 10am and 4pm, Monday to Friday.
Tickets will be offered on a first come, first served basis and are limited. We would therefore encourage anyone wishing to attend to purchase a ticket in advance as soon as possible.
Proceeds from ‘Meet the Mayors of Crewe’ will go to the Mayoral Charities – Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity, Central Cheshire Buddies Scheme and Churches Together in Crewe Night Shelter.
