The Town Council welcomes the national focus on Crewe arising from HS2 and is pleased to read the positive statement from the Transport Secretary, Patrick McLoughlin. Bringing HS2 to Crewe 'faster than planned' is something we wholeheartedly support. Crewe's railway heritage is unique and once again we see Crewe at the cutting edge of rail technology. Only Crewe has the 360 degree connectivity to link the main line from the south to industrial heartlands of the north.
Council Leader, Simon Yates said 'Now that the election is over we welcome the apparent speed with which this is progressing and call upon all parties to do this with the people of Crewe in a way which meets local aspirations as well as the acknowledged national and regional priorities for a high class transport network'.
