I was very pleased to be re-elected for the Crewe East ward in May 2015 having served as a town councillor for that ward for the two years previously.
It was my pleasure to be elected as the first ever Leader of the Town Council in 2013, building the council up from scratch and formulating the Strategic Plan which the Council continues to follow. It was a lot of hard work, but worth it seeing the positive changes the council has made in that time for all residents of Crewe. I decided that it was time to hand over the responsibility of leadership in 2015 with the election of a new council.
National political developments, notably Brexit, have since led me to change party. I will continue to scrutinise the decisions of the council, supporting where possible but speaking out where necessary. The town faces many economic challenges including town centre regeneration, maximising the benefits of HS2 and furthering measures to encourage youth employment in the town.
I have lived in South Cheshire all my life and Crewe is my home town. I am privileged to have been given the opportunity to give something back to my local community.
