The Royal British Legion – Crewe branch held the Service of Remembrance for VE Day 80 on Memorial Square on Thursday 8th May 2025. We were proud to support them with this special commemorative event. Thank you to everyone involved for coming together as a community to pay our respects.
The Mayor of Crewe, Councillor Dawn Clark, attended and laid a wreath. The Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire, the Mayor of Cheshire East and Armed Forces organisations and groups, schools, colleges and members of the community were in attendance.
Thank you to our wonderful volunteer photographer, Peter Robinson, for taking these images of the Service.
The Service of Remembrance was an opportunity for us all to gather as a community to show our collective respect to all of those who gave their tomorrow for our today. It is important that we never forget the lives that have been sacrificed in the service of our country.
We will remember them.

After nearly six years of war, Germany officially surrendered on 7 May 1945 and the Second World War was finally over. 8th May 1945 became known as Victory in Europe Day (VE Day).
