Crewe Tree of Light Ceremony

Crewe Town Council is pleased to announce that it is working in partnership with Orbitas, LoveCrewe and the Cheshire Living Well Dying Well Partnership for the Annual Tree of Light Scheme in Crewe

The concept of the Scheme is to let a light shine in memory of loved ones, no matter where they may be buried, by dedicating a Star which will be placed on the Tree of Light in Crewe Cemetery over the Christmas period

Stars can be collected and returned to a number of distribution points around Crewe which include Crewe Cemetery Office, the Municipal Buildings, What’s Happening on North Street and the Crewe Town Council Offices. Stars need to be dedicated and returned by Friday 16th November 2018

Councillor Brian Roberts, Mayor of Crewe, said ‘The Town Council is pleased to be working in partnership with local organisations on this longstanding community event. Christmas can be a very difficult time of year for those who have lost loved ones and we hope that we can help keep their memories alive by remembering them.’

Councillor David Marren, Chairman of Orbitas Bereavement Services Ltd, said ‘It is with some pride that 15 years ago I was part of a team that introduced the Tree of Light Ceremony and that it continues to this day. Indeed it has grown more and more popular as an annual commemorative event when we look back and remember someone who was close to us, but no longer near, but is still in our hearts and thoughts and always will be. The Tree of Light Ceremony is a thoughtful and quiet way for us to pay our respects and rekindle fond memories. I am pleased that Orbitas have partnered with Crewe Town Council because it ensures the future sustainability of the event.’

Frances Underhill, Health and Wellbeing Officer at the End of Life Partnership said ‘Cheshire Living Well Dying Well are delighted to be involved with this heart-warming event bringing the community together to share their memories of their loved ones lost. It is important for those left behind to be able to remember and share their loss with others as part of the grieving process.’

The Crewe Tree of Light Ceremony will take place on Friday 7th December 2018 at 4.30pm
