Crewe Town Council to hold First World War Conference

Crewe Town Council is set to hold a First World War Conference at South Cheshire College on Saturday 12th July. The event will mark the year that the First World War began and is the start of many commemorations.

The programme commences at 10am and will run until 4pm with a buffet lunch provided. Renowned military historian Peter Hart will deliver the keynote speech on the first battle of Ypres, Steve McGreal will be speaking about The Cheshire Bantams and local historian Mark Potts will launch his new book on the War dead of Crewe and Nantwich.

Tickets for the event cost £10.00 and include refreshments and lunch.

The event is open to all with an interest in the subject and there are also tables available to hire for book and merchandise sellers. It is the Council’s intention to organise a conference each year from 2014-2019 and advance bookings will be accepted on the day for future events.
