Lumen, the Lights Festival delivered by Crewe Town Council, will not take place in February 2023 as originally planned.
The Festival was scheduled to take place on 17th and 18th February 2023 at various locations across the town centre.
The event was debated by the Council’s Marketing and Events Committee, which met on Tuesday 10th January 2023, and the decision was made at that meeting.
Crewe Town Council has a responsibility to ensure value for money and this, coupled with the need to offer a high-quality event, has resulted in the decision to cancel the event, especially in light of the current energy and cost of living crises.
Councillor Joe Cosby, Chair of the Marketing and Events Committee, commented:
“As the Committee recognises, costs had increased and the event could not demonstrate good value for money or viability. As a result, the decision was made to focus on other activities and working with the community to find alternative deliverable and sustainable events for Crewe.”
