Krazy Races, in partnership with Crewe Town Council, is proud to announce Newlife – The Charity for Disabled Children as its official headline charity partner for the 2025 event.
The popular, free-to-attend, national award-winning soapbox derby will return to Crewe on Sunday, 25th May. Krazy Races is now seeking up to 40 teams—comprising both local residents and businesses—to design, build, and race quirky, creative soapboxes down Broad Street in Crewe.
Danny Scoffin, Head of Brand & Strategic Development at Krazy Races, said:
“We wanted the people of Crewe to have a say in selecting our charity partner, and they didn’t disappoint, with over 1,500 locals casting their vote. The heart of Krazy Races is our charity partnerships, and after raising more than £15,000 for our charity partners at last year’s Crewe event, we’re aiming to raise even more this year.”
Lucy Beardmore, Community Fundraiser at Newlife – the Charity for Disabled Children said:
“We are beyond excited to be the headline charity for this incredible event! This is an amazing opportunity, and we are thrilled to join forces with the Krazy Races team. The exposure from this event will help us connect with even more families in Crewe and the surrounding areas. Not only is it a fun and engaging way to raise funds, but it also gives us the chance to encourage our supporters to get involved in this exciting community event. Our charity is dedicated to supporting disabled and terminally ill children, and every penny raised will go toward helping us continue our crucial work for the most vulnerable in our community. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who voted for Newlife – your support means the world to us!”
A spokesperson from Crewe Town Council commented:
“We are delighted to hear the outcome of the public vote for the Crewe Krazy Races Headline Charity 2025! It’s been great to see so many amazing charities nominated this year that all make a huge difference to Crewe residents, as demonstrated by the high number of votes made. We hope that the headline charity and other partner charities are able to raise vital funds to support their valuable work.”
Event organisers have already received a high number of team entries, with the race format set to be a knockout-style competition, offering multiple trophies and prizes. Applications for team entries are open, but spaces are limited. Applications will automatically close once the 40-team threshold is reached.
