What a Bank Holiday weekend in Crewe. The sun shined and Steampunks flocked to Crewe for three days of daytime events and a series of gigs from Friday night through to the Monday evening.
Event Organiser David Smith said ‘Wow! What a weekend, everyone had a fantastic time and the event brought something new to Crewe. The pictures and social media response speaks for the success of the event. I applaud the courage of the Town Council for backing this event and I hope to get an opportunity to meet with Councillors to discuss Crewe Steampunk Convivial II’
Feedback to the Town Council confirmed that Steampunks had travelled to Crewe for the event from all over the UK and in a few cases further afield. Town Clerk, Steve McQuade said ‘I can’t think of many things that bring people to Crewe from so far away. The guests were really positive about the Town and appreciated the warm welcome from local folks. A relaxed family atmosphere prevailed all weekend’.
Cllr Jill Rhodes said “It was a pleasure to see so many visitors from all over the country coming to the town enjoying themselves and appreciating the great heritage and pleasant atmosphere of Crewe. It was also good to see so many local people enjoying the street entertainment in the town centre and taking part. I am sure the hotels and the businesses will have welcomed the increase in business due to this event.”
Feedback was great and here are a few of comments from Social Media:
‘My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the festival, and I hope to join you next year!’
‘Best thing I can remember happening in Crewe, I even went home and put on a kilt’
‘Just spoke to my Mum whose never really shown much interest in Steampunk and she’s making a trip into town specially to see what’s going on’

‘It’s been an absolutely fabulous weekend – thank you so much to all those involved in planning, organising and running the event, and to all the great performers entertaining us – we absolutely must make it happen again next year and make it an annual event – thank you one and all.’
