It is with great sadness that we confirm the death of our colleague Councillor Mike Russan today following a brief illness.
Mike was first elected to the Crewe West Ward as part of the formation of the new Crewe Town Council in April 2013 following his retirement as a long standing French Teacher at Ruskin High School, and was re-elected to the Town Council in May 2015.
Councillor Marilyn Houston, Mayor of Crewe, led the Council’s tributes “Mike was immensely proud to represent Crewe and had a passion for his constituents. He was a very well-liked and respected colleague who will be sadly missed. Our thoughts and condolences are with Sarah and the family at this sad time.”
Councillor Russan chaired the Council’s Finance and Resources Committee and led on the improvements made to the Town Christmas Lighting Scheme and festive activities in Crewe Town Centre.
Mike was a caring, active and devoted father, grandfather and husband who had a love of music, reading and his favourite holiday venue France.
