Crewe Town Council has launched a new initiative to activate Lyceum Square with a community fund. This grant programme offers local groups the opportunity to apply for up to £1,000 each to support their activities in the square until the end of October 2024. The fund is open to all community groups, including youth theatres, gymnastics clubs, choirs, bands and more. Applications can be submitted through the Crewe Town Council website, to find out more, please visit:

Crewe Town Council wants to emphasise that this space is available to all groups this summer and autumn, and all groups are encouraged to contact the Town Council via the website if they wish to use the space to showcase their talents.
In the meantime, the Council is aiming to bring some life and community activity to the square. Throughout August, the large screen has been showcasing daily Olympic coverage and will continue to display sports events and popular screenings from 8am to 6pm daily.
Following a community consultation in July to gather feedback on desired activities, the Council, working with partners, is hosting a diverse series of events in August. The series kicked off with the Sublime Science Workshops on 1st August, where over 350 children and families explored the world of science through engaging, hands-on activities. Participants enjoyed thrilling science shows, magical experiments, and interactive demonstrations, including making sherbet and crafting slime, making it a day of educational fun.
