Big announcements made at Crewe Krazy Races 2025 launch!

Krazy Races, the UK’s largest touring soapbox derby, wowed audiences in Crewe last summer and is returning to the town on Sunday 25th May 2025! Preparations for this year’s exciting race have now officially kicked off, with a recent gathering at the Crewe Lyceum Theatre.

The launch event saw a fantastic turnout, with local teams from businesses and schools, including Boughey, Strathmore College, Crewe UTC, Co-op, and Stagecoach, all coming together to discuss their participation. The event has sparked tremendous interest from the local community, and with team spaces filling fast, organisers are encouraging more local businesses and schools to get involved.

AO will be the official track and mascot sponsor for the 2025 event. Thanks to this exciting partnership, the race route will feature new elements, including:

  • a smoke tunnel with green smoke
  • a speed bump challenge
  • and a dynamic start ramp.

AO’s Chief Smile-Maker, Bear the AO Teddy, will entertain the crowd throughout the day, ensuring there’s no shortage of fun for everyone!

The event also revealed its headline charity for 2025, Newlife, following a public vote in February. Newlife is a charity which supports children with disabilities and terminal illnesses. Organisers will be working with the charity to raise funds through various activities during the day, helping to support Newlife’s vital work.

Spreadwise will return as the official host for the 2025 Krazy Races Soapbox Derby Team Scrutineering Event. This event will take place at Spreadwise’s headquarters on Friday 9th May 2025.

Special guests at the launch event at Crewe Lyceum included Cllr Dawn Clark (Mayor of Crewe) as the representative for headline partner Crewe Town Council. Councillor Clark’s presence underscored the council’s continued commitment to supporting local events that unite the community.

Danny Scoffin, Head of Brand & Strategic Development for Krazy Races, said:
“It was fantastic to meet all our teams and partners at Crewe Lyceum Theatre and see the excitement building for this year’s event. It’s such an amazing venue, and we are very grateful to the Lyceum team for hosting. With new features, a strong community focus, and the support of incredible partners like AO and Newlife, this year’s Krazy Races is set to be an unforgettable day of family fun, speed, and charitable giving.”

A representative for Crewe Town Council commented:
“There’s a real buzz about the return of Krazy Races to Crewe in May! It was fantastic to meet participating teams and partners at the recent launch event at Crewe Lyceum. The 2024 event was an amazing day out for all the family and this year’s race is already set to build on that success with thrilling additions to the race route and even more fun planned.”

Applications for teams are closing soon, with organisers seeking 20-40 local teams to participate. Local businesses and charities can also get involved as sponsors and supporters.
