ArtsFest at All Saints’ Church

The 4th ArtsFest took over All Saint’s Church on Stewart Street last week when Councillor Dennis Straine-Francis paid them a visit.

Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd October saw the church brimming with creativity thanks to local artistic talents which has seen this biannual festival of arts and crafts flourish year on year.

The two days featured live music from visiting groups and choirs, pop up craft stalls, jams, chutneys and even produce from the Brookhouse Allotments decorated the church which also included an art gallery of over 100 paintings and drawings showcasing local talent from the Crewe community.

Three schools, Gainsborough, King’s Grove and Wistaston Academy, lent their hand each hosting interactive displays created by their students aimed to help the Church celebrate this Harvest Festival with a difference.

Reverend Steve Clapham, the Mayor’s Chaplain who is also based at All Saint’s Church said ‘We are thrilled to be hosting ArtsFest once again and see the Church filled with colour and creativity.  I would like to thank everyone who has contributed something to support our harvest thanksgiving; the artists and crafts people for generously lending their work and to all the volunteers who have worked tirelessly to put the two days together.’

Councillor Dennis Straine-Francis, Mayor of Crewe, said ‘The colour and creativity from the community really shone out and it was fantastic to see so much local talent bursting at the seams.  All Saints’ have done a marvellous job and you could certainly tell a lot of hard work had gone into making ArtsFest very successful.  Well done to all.  I would personally like to thank Reverend Clapham for all the support he has given to Crewe Town Council over the past few years.  He has been an excellent Mayor’s Chaplain to both myself and Councillor Minshall.  We wish him well when he moves to his new Parish.’

ArtsFest has helped raise funds for St Luke’s Cheshire Hospice and All Saints’ Church with percentage donations from sales being split equally between the two.
