Creative Crewe and Crewe Town Council have once again joined forces for an exciting day at Queen’s Park.
On Sunday 28th June, the two organisations are asking residents to join them for a Picnic in the Park to mark Armed Forces Day 2015.
Entertainment from a variety of local performers including Crewe Male Voice Choir, St Mary’s Rainbow Peace Choir, We are Nomad, the FunkyChoir, Gambler and the Start as well as local dance groups X Academy Theatre School and Catherine Fraser Irish Dancers will be held between 1pm and 9pm. A short service led by Reverend Tim Watson will be held at 1pm to honour current and ex-serviceman.
A wide range of arts and crafts activities will be available and a number of uniformed youth organisations from Crewe such as Sea Cadets, Scouts and Army Cadets will be showcasing their skills and talents with fun packed nautical and field crafts demonstrations.
Councillor Dennis Straine-Francis, Mayor of Crewe, said ‘As an ex-serviceman, I am delighted to see an event of this nature in Crewe and I invite everyone to come and join in.’
Alice Dean, Cheshire Youth United Development Manager, said ‘The Picnic in the Park will be a great opportunity for the community to find out more about the fantastic opportunities on offer by Cheshire Youth United members in Crewe. Cadets, Girlguiding, Scouts and the Boys Brigades offer positive, life changing experiences for young people. I would encourage everyone to venture to Queen’s Park to meet the excellent volunteers and even join and have a go!’
