The Town Council welcomes the work of the Crewe Town Allotment Federation and Manor Way Allotment Association to bring about improvements at the site. The statement issued by the Federation is reproduced below:
Improvement works are underway at Manor Way Allotments in Crewe. Trevor Tutt, Chairman of Manor Way Allotment Committee, said ‘this site was particularly run down and in need of attention and improvement. Volunteers from our plot holders held a ‘working party day’ to make a start but we soon realized that extra manpower and heavy machinery would be needed. A meeting was arranged with Mr. Joe Frizell of T.W.Frizell (Haulage & Plant Hire) Ltd. who agreed to assist us with the heavy work.
Over 30 heavy concrete posts have now been removed; a car park with 12 parking spaces has been created; a large drainage pond has been dug and fenced for safety, and a large tract of scrub land has been cleared and marked out for new plots.
I would like to thank Frizells for all their work and support. I would also like to thank the Mayor of Crewe, Cllr. Pam Minshull; Cllr. Steven Hogben of Cheshire East Council, and Cllr. Suzanne Brookfield of Crewe Town Council for visiting the site to see the work in progress. Thanks also to all our plot holders who came to lend a hand and provided us with refreshments.’
